SquareOne Entertainment is a dynamic independent film distribution company in Germany. Since 2002 CEO Al Munteanu and his team have co-produced and/or co-developed, distributed and marketed, independent motion pictures in German-speaking Europe. Due to its close relationship with producers from the UK, France and USA, SquareOne has often benefited from early access to films, always focusing on the combination of high production value with strong commercial appeal.
Among the most successful movies handled by SquareOne in German speaking Europe are the theatrical dance sensations STREETDANCE 3D and STREETDANCE 2, the French romantic comedy THE HEARTBREAKER starring Vanessa Paradis and Romain Duris, critically acclaimed science fiction breakthrough MONSTERS and comedy-hit THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE as well as the pulsating thriller HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence.
With films like the dramedy 50/50 featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and AGE OF REASON starring Sophie Marceau, SquareOne has also established its reputation in the realm of art house cinema.
SquareOne’s upcoming theatrical releases are the French romcom FLY ME TO THE MOON starring Diane Kruger and Dany Boon and the German drama DAS WOCHENENDE – based on the novel of the same name by Bernhard Schlink- THE READER, starring Sebastian Koch amongst others. This marks SquareOne’s first foray into the distribution of domestic fare.
SquareOne is very excited to expand the successful STREETDANCE series with Vertigo Films with STREETDANCE ALL STARS, a dance film for all generations.
The company´s home entertainment activity encompasses hits such as TRAITOR starring Don Cheadle, SEEKING JUSTICE starring Nicolas Cage, THE RAVEN with John Cusack or FIRE WITH FIRE starring Josh Duhamel and Bruce Willis.
SquareOne is particularly proud of its recent acquisitions, marking a strong 2013/2014 slate: Joel Hopkins’ turbulent comedy LOVE PUNCH with Emma Thompson and Pierce Brosnan, the survival-epic ALL IS LOST with Robert Redford and GRACE OF MONACO, the much anticipated Grace Kelly bio pic showcasing a stellar performance by Nicole Kidman as the Princess of Monaco.
Our portfolio includes feature films from companies such as Lionsgate Films, Pathé Pictures International, Content Film, Gold Circle Films, EuropaCorp, Gaumont, Focus Features, FilmNation, Vertigo Films, IM Global and UFA-Cinema. The company maintains a strong theatrical distribution partnership with Universum Film and Buena Vista Germany. |
