SquareOne Entertainment was established in April 2002 as an all rights distributor of commercial feature films for German speaking Europe. President of SquareOne is Al Munteanu.
SquareOne acquires commercially successful films across all genres: from riveting thrillers like The Air I Breathe starring Brendan Fraser, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Bacon, Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker, Julie Deply and Emile Hirsch to gripping dramas such as Romulus, My Father, starring Eric Bana and Franka Potente. Alongside the Descent franchise and Toby Wilkins’ six-time Scream Award winner Splinter you will find star-studded horror with Focus Features’ The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman.
Films Experiment Killing Room by “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” director Jonathan Liebesman and the Ridley Scott Production Tell-Tale, starring Lena Heady and Josh Lucas, as well as horror comedy Lesbian Vampire Killers, have all been presented at the 2009 Fantasy Filmfest.
SquareOne’s most recent acquisitions include French romantic comedy Heartbreaker staring Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis, Loup directed by Nicolas Vanier and the beautifully animated family feature Donkey Schott.
Additionally, SquareOne is proud to present its first live action 3D dance film- the ultimate must-see dance experience, Streetdance 3D. The film features some of the UK’s most talented dancers, including the Britain’s Got Talent dance sensations: Flawless, Diversity and George Sampson. |

“Going back to square one” means taking a fresh approach to each picture we acquire. As a virtual distributor, we create clear distribution and marketing structures by aligning theatrical and video releases with the optimal partners. SquareOne works hand-in-hand with its distribution partners, and involves itself in all aspects of the exploitation process to ensure the best possible results for each individual project and partner. This approach enables us to efficiently secure the right match for the right film, at the right time.
When involved at the ground level of projects, SquareOne provides producers with its executive production expertise in all aspects of foreign sales, financing models, film development and marketing. |

Our film library includes feature films purchased from companies such as Mandate Pictures, Pathé Pictures International, Content Film, Gold Circle Films, EuropaCorp, Gaumont, Myriad Pictures, Intandem Films, Hyde Park, Focus Features, FilmNation, IM Global, Universum/Disney. These commercially successful titles feature actors Al Pacino, Andy Garcia, Forest Whitaker, Susan Sarandon, Michael Keaton, Kevin Bacon, Nick Nolte, Michael Fassbender, Milla Jovovich, Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kim Basinger, Liv Tyler, Ryan Reynolds, Guy Pearce and Kate Beckinsale, among other international stars.
SquareOne works together with all theatrical and home entertainment distributors in the German market, in particular with Universal Pictures Germany, Universum Film und Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Television rights are handled in-house directly with broadcasters. We work closely with all German speaking pubcasters, private cable channels and pay TV. These strategic alliances enable us to position our feature films for maximum visibility within a transparent and solid structure. |
